I worked at Open Systems, Inc.

Pros

IT consulting company with technical staff. One of the few IT companies with IT people running the business. They also build their own software so one can learn various technologies and systems.

Cons

training is available but it depends on the client/project you are with, so not too many ways to get into new technologies. there is no 401k match and if we needed time-off, the client was involved in the decision making

Advice to ManagementAdvice

grow into more clients so contractors have a chance to do many types of projects and technologies.
the culture is good but will it last if the company keeps growing??

    Pros

    good support from sales staff

    Cons

Not well organized on the accounting/payroll side. Not enough communications and they need to update/upgrade their IT infrastructure to be more competitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have to spend money sometimes to make money. Manual processes vs. implenting modern technologies will end up holding them back in the long run.

I worked at Open Systems, Inc.

    Pros

Open Systems has fantastic people to work with. The culture is great. It's an open environment and you feel comfortable talking to everyone including the owner. Employee turnover is very minimal.

    Cons

Benefits like 401k and health plan are not that great. Employer matching on 401k is minimal (.03%)

Open Systems is a privately held flat (organizational structures) company and doesn't put a lot of money towards employee professional development including training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to foster the culture as it makes Open Systems a great company to work for and find ways to offer professional development opportunities for employees.
