Pros

Interesting projects, diversity of products to work on, management tries to match skills and carrier path with existing possibilities. Great working environment with work life balance.

Cons

Long release cycles, some great products in the works, but it takes long to get them out to customers. Average or below average pay.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Streamline internal processes, we are are process company after all. More transparency from ELT to managers to individual contributors. Keep pushing EIM cloud and investing in high growth products and locales.

    Pros

Benefits, Time Off are great. Excellent Customers and great people - what's left of the long-timers.

    Cons

No respect or value for employees or retention, especially front-line sales. Extreme micro management in place and pay is 10-20% lower than market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a new CEO and think twice about retaining the dedicated force you have left...many of us are being welcomed with open arms by competitors. Will take months, if not years ot recover from the loss of skilled, seasoned professionals required to have the conversations necessary, at the c-levels required to sell the large, diverse suite.

Local Management great, but company wide focus is not on employee satisfaction.

I have been working at OpenText full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Local management is great to work with and flexible to meet employee work/life balance needs. Almost all of the staff that I have interacted with, across product lines and corporate have been friendly and easy to work with. Health benefits are decent.

    Cons

Acquisition process was rough - reduced vacation days (without compensation) when we standardized on the corporate policy. Raise process is virtually non-existent despite reporting record profits quarter after quarter. Company wide emails announce a review and raise procedure for a set deadline, then no further announcements on salary increases even after the deadline passes. Too much growth through acquisition has lead to a silo effect for each product and there are occasional disconnects due to the many different procedures across the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep your employees happy - share the wealth. Slow down the acquisitions until you get the various teams across the products working with each other and standardize procedures across the various products.
