Poor management and disrespectful management team.

Former Employee - Sales Account Executive
Former Employee - Sales Account Executive

I worked at OpenText full-time

Pros

After the new management team took over I cannot see any pros working for this company, specially in the Brazilian unit.

Cons

Disrespectful management team, lack of transparency, bad treatment of employees. Meetings with employees has been recorded as well as mention to legal firms in a attempt to create a atmosphere of fear and avoid employees to take legal actions.

Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at OpenText full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some people say work life balance? Well, in some teams you can work from home. Then you have lots of travelling as a payback, so not really...
Benefits are quite good, you can get educational assistance, access to very good learning portal, but that is all.

    Cons

    - no pay rises
    - career progression is a joke, there are hardly any people who actually got promoted
    - lots of new acquisitions are botched from the beginning, key people leave and products die
    - OT buys companies for their financial results then puts products in maintenance mode and kills them slowly
    - some of middle managers are good, lots are just after good financial spreadsheets, nothing else
    - general feeling that management doesn't care about employees in the slightest
    - morale extremely low, lots of people leaving
    - hiring freeze - problematic as some teams lost key people they cannot replace
    - micromanagement right from the top
    - current top management initiative is a laughing stock of the whole company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the culture. Mark is an accountant not a CEO, he needs to be replaced.

I worked at OpenText full-time for more than a year

    Pros

OTX has a great suite of products that, if implemented properly, can really transform the way businesses work and help them make great savings.

    Cons

Senior management have no interest in listening to the people who really know the products. They would rather just buy new companies than invest in improving current products and making them market leaders.

They have mastered the art of demoralising staff by dismissing them and making them feel worthless.

The company strategy is bewildering to say the least.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the people on the ground who really know the products instead of bringing in a load of yes-men/women who know little or nothing about them.

Think about pleasing the people on the inside before those on the outside. They are your heart and soul.

Invest in what you have before splashing out on new companies and making them all miserable as well.
