Pros

Openwave had some of the best technology and smartest technical talent in its space. These made it a very good place for engineers to work at.

Cons

Unfortunately the skill of the technical team was outdone by the incompetence of senior management and the company consistently underachieved. As a result it never became a place that people would build a long term career at.

Advice to Senior Management

The best years that the company saw were when the founders were at the helm. The founders were great businessmen and equally good engineers. After they departed the board hired a parade of mediocre salesmen to run the company and things headed downhill.

The board needs to do a better job of hiring the right leadership team to salvage whatever is left of the company.
