Openwave Systems – “Openwave was indeed very good in the early years but the promise is unfulfilled.”

As a former employee who worked closely with the founders of both Phone.com and Software.com, I wholeheartedly agree with these comments. Openwave had some of the best talent in Silicon Valley, a virtually no way to lose business plan, and lots of vision. But the Board hired a bunch of totally inept executives who became very wealthy and destroyed billions in shareholder value. If run by the middle managers, Openwave would be a junior version of Google today. A true shame and so many dreams ruined by greedy and incompetent executives.
