Former Employee - Senior Software Engineer in Redwood City, CA

I worked at Oracle full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

1) Flexible work hours;
2) Nice gym and natural environment at HQ;
3) Good medical insurance;

Cons

1) Not an environment that makes talents stand out;
2) Low salary (after working for few years), low bonus - basically not employee friendly;
3) Move slowly;
4) Performance is judged by number of bugs fixed not quality of work;

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize people's hard and quality work; think more about performance than useless features; let people leave on good terms; don't panic on stupid bugs; don't play politics too much; efficiency is very important so don't have too many useless meetings; let people present their good ideas not BS ones

    Former Employee - Global Procurement, Travel & Disbursements in Rocklin, CA

    I worked at Oracle full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work / life balance is paramount and primary driver for anyone that would want to work there. Great place to check in, do good work, and check out. With reasonable intelligence you can work a straight 40 and meet or exceed expectations.

    Cons

    Very limited opportunity to develop professionally. They have already invented the wheel, so they need people that simply maintain the functional operations. The only opportunity arises with executive change over - which is fairly often - which affords those in the 'circle' the opporunity to effectuate incremental change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Develop a key talent program to incentivize, reward and retain true talent.
