Pros

Flexibility. Although they expect about 60 hours of work in a 40 hour week.

Cons

Bad management. Seems they promote people that are incompetent. You will work many hours and never get compensated. The company is very cheap. You can walk on water, or exceed expectations and never receive raises or bonuses. They treat their employees like cattle. Just a number and if you can't do all the hours or work, they will get someone cheaper to do it.

Advice to Management

Get some management classes in discrimination under your belt. Treat employees well, and they will work for you. Don't give them raises or bonuses? Then the work ethic goes away.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, great benefits, competitive pay. Job security is huge too. Employees are rarely let go... Even if they should be.

    Cons

This place breeds complacency. The employee make-up is a mixed bag due to the countless acquisitions and therefore a company culture doesn't really exist. If you're looking for a place to become employee number xxx thousand and get lost in the shuffle, this is the place for you. If you're ambitious and have professional drive, go somewhere else.

    Advice to Management

Recognize talent and promote from within. So many great employee get ignored, and ultimately quit, because management is terrified about mentoring/training qualified employees only to be replaced by said employees.

    Pros

Decent pay, good flexibility in work location, decent benefits, large company makes for a semi-safe environment. Customers really have to you and if you get to understand your patch and product set, you usually can figure out how to position and sell them. Oracle has everything under the sun technology wise.

    Cons

There are some good sales territories and jobs at Oracle, and some lousy ones. Better know your manager and area VP very well to ensure your deals can get approved!! Biggest challenge is the terrible customer management strategy. It's every sales rep for themselves, and customers know it. It is a "good old boy" network in management.

    Advice to Management

Start treating your customers like customers and not enemies. Yes, you have them "over a barrel." They know it, but stop treating them like that. Simplify the comp plan and give higher end incentives. And finally, create a model and culture of sales teams working together to solve problems and drive bigger revenue at your customers.
