Pros

Flexible schedule, great benefits, competitive pay. Job security is huge too. Employees are rarely let go... Even if they should be.

Cons

This place breeds complacency. The employee make-up is a mixed bag due to the countless acquisitions and therefore a company culture doesn't really exist. If you're looking for a place to become employee number xxx thousand and get lost in the shuffle, this is the place for you. If you're ambitious and have professional drive, go somewhere else.

Advice to Management

Recognize talent and promote from within. So many great employee get ignored, and ultimately quit, because management is terrified about mentoring/training qualified employees only to be replaced by said employees.

    Pros

Great brand, financial resources to fund its thoughtful product and acquisition strategy, fluid work structures allow for excellence, broad portfolio of products and services, greatly improving SaaS options and hosting services. Rough and tumble culture in US Sales and Consulting that traditionally has rewarded excellence. World class visionary CEO.

    Cons

New President of Sales, Consulting, Hosting that is detached from reality and with a muddled vision and poor communication skills, reorganization that feels like the org chart went in a Waring blender, will likely be a year of disruption and decline in US sales, exodus of top talent from US Sales and Consulting with the departure of the long-stranding EVP for North America Sales and Consulting. Sales force for license is confused by the new sales model with all its overlapping market segments. Consulting in US likely to be down due to self-induced disruptions in the sales force and loss of key leadership positions.

    Advice to Management

Need to develop a learning culture that focuses on continuous improvement. Highly reactionary US sales/delivery culture that on a yearly basis implements dramatic and discontinuous change that does not allow for refinement and optimization of what works. Fusion is the investment of a lifetime, protect the brand with world class pre-release product testing.

    Pros

Oracle began to work hard in hardware area. The acquisition of Sun System give Oracle an profit increase in servers sales. WIth the software foundation, Oracle may turn into a vertical IT company like HP and IBM

    Cons

It still behind IBM and Intel in microprocessor of servers market. The base salary is high, but Sr and Staff engineer is just a bit more than that. The company doesn't have a innovation culture like Google. It's just a good place to wait for retiring.

    Advice to Management

Get more aggressive. Get all the engineers to work more hard.
