Former Employee - Senior Consultant in Mumbai (India)

I worked at Oracle full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    1. Quality work
    2. Opportunities to learn and work overseas
    3. Flexible and relaxed work environment - work is the only thing that matters
    4. No/minimum politics
    5. Cultural activities

    Cons

    1. Low appreciation/recognition for good work
    2. Low transparency regards to company strategy and business on-goings
    3. Sometimes people are promoted only because of the number of years they spent. For e.g. the client relationship manager in New York area couldn't manage relationship with the clients like rival firms. I worked there for 2 years, and I as a consultant was managing the relationship and doing her work. I saw her meet the client only when the project was awarded to a rival firm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Appreciate good work more often to keep motivation levels high.
    2. Put competent people for managing client relationships
    3. Send periodic and transparent communication regarding happenings in the business environment
