Field Sales Representative

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood product set and strong industry reputation as a leader in applications and technology. If you have a solid territory with strong install base, you will do well. If you don't, and have the patience to stick it out until you get a better patch, it will eventually pay off. A lot of sales reps leave for greener pastures and end up coming back, so that must say something. And if you leave on good terms, they are good about bringing you back.

ConsThere is a lot of large corporate BS that you have to deal with, and a lot of infighting between sales pillars selling within the same accounts. There has been significant change in the sales organizations for the last three years, which only adds to the heartburn because of uncertainty that the accounts you nurture will remain your accounts in the next fiscal year. Also there tends to be a lot of reps that get their commissions messed up (usually for the worse) which results in an onerous fight to get it fixed.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore cooperation between sales pillars and quicker realignment and assignment of sales territories.
