I worked at Oracle full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Currently stable, some people get away with free phones and never come into the office. If you are in the right spot you can get a decent deal.

    Cons

No layoff's but raises are far and few between. They may compensate somewhat with bonuses though.
Terrible company culture. Only new hires in the US seem to be from acquiring new companies. Very little innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look for quality not numbers. Stop suing everyone and actually make useful software.

I worked at Oracle full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good product offerings especially around the security pillars.

    Cons

Senior management completely tuned out. They play with people's career, and some of the resource management is completely incompetent and not qualified to run a practice.
Some Resources are not good, as long as you have tie in with management. Repeated failures will not throw you out of the company. Skill sets is not a direct match with the excessive high consulting rates. Security team is the worst performing.
Projects fail due to qualified resources as no training at all and everything is utilization based. Retention process not well defined, no career development. Difficult to move from one organization to other. Management always rejects those career changing moves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your attitude. Treat people with dignity and respect. And follow the industry trends. Train your people and then engage them on projects. Have a healthy working relation with license counterparts. Compensate people based on their performance.
