    I worked at Oracle full-time

    Pros

Lots of free time. Work is not very hectic. Stable job.

    Cons

Because of the size of the company experience can vary a lot. Each group has its own pros and cons. But the entire culture of the company is very bureaucratic. Things move extremely slowly and there is hardly any scope for professional growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the meetings small and relavant.

A company where the culture is based on "what have you done for me lately?"

I worked at Oracle full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are very aggressive and in a position to succeed then you will be rewarded. The company likes those who act first and ask questions later. Management leaves you alone. Working from anywhere and not being tied to an office is a bonus.

    Cons

If you miss your targets, there are no excuses. Oracle is quick to dump you to hire the next person, hopefully at a cheaper price. Starting salaries are low, bonuses are difficult even when you get them in writing. Management is very busy managing up and trying to keep their jobs and does not spend much time managing down. Long hours and personal sacrifice are expected. No balance of home life with work life, so if Oracle needs you to work on the weekend when you have already planned that vacation the past 6 months, then the vacation has to go. No excuses. Layoffs happen often and without warning. Also, as an added bonus, your customers probably won't like you because you represent Oracle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your workers with respect. They are the reason you have that yacht and private island.
