I have been working at Oracle

    Pros

Brand opens doors. No chance that a c-level won't know who you work for. And Larry Ellison may be a polarizing figure sometimes, but his vision in seeing what's coming is uncanny - even if not always an executed.

    Cons

Dog-eat-dog culture that not everyone can stand. Management pits teams against one another to create competition (harsh, but it works).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Type-A personalities across every role only get you so far.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Challenging consulting assignments. Variety of assignments.

    Cons

Upper management seems to manage ROI and bottom line profits through layoffs. Sales people over-sell product and Consulting has to try to deliver on virtual expectations and customer expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In class training or shadow assignments to learn new skills. The online CBTs are a good intro but does not provide hands-on skills. Only accessible sandboxes with instructors/mentors can provide the skill level training required by clients
