Pros

Technology ownership, name recognition, access to documents and technologies

Cons

no training, the managers suck no growth opportunity

Advice to ManagementAdvice

do review of the managers... you are a software company and so value your core technical team members input over mere managers

I have been working at Oracle full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Being a large company, there is room for moving around organizations based on your career goals. Organizational it is loosely centralized, where the VP of each pillar set the tone for how their organizations will function. Work with professional and smart colleagues.

    Cons

Little investment on employees, low raises, employees are sometime promoted but no wages increases are given, transferring to another organization is always lateral, for new employees it is a synch or swim environment. We are forced to use middleware applications that are not sensitive to our application requirements and timelines.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to remain competitive in the SaaS world you need to figure out ways to retain good talent. Better wage increases is a good way to start.

This company treats only 10% of its employees good. Rest of them are ignored.

I worked at Oracle full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, occasional work from home, health care benefits.

    Cons

If you want to join this company, look for the following:
      * You should be a hyped product like Cloud, Mobile, etc. It doesn't matter if the product is making money, the employee doesn't. e.g., EBS, App Server, EM.
      * Negotiate your salary as much as possible before you join. You may not see the salary increments in a distant future.
      * Inquire about the manager you are going to report.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat your employees with respect.
