I have been working at Oreck

    Pros

It iis a job. In Cookeville there aren't many jobs. so you don't have many choices and they know it. People working on the floor have little respect from management.

    Cons

People working on the floor keep falling farther and farther behind other peoples salaries. Floor workers are not given the respect they deserve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start treating workers with the respect they deserve. Show the workers that they are as important as the rest of the employees in the company.

    I worked at Oreck

    Pros

Very entrepreneurial due to founder's personality. Very much of a 'family' feel with older employees taking great care and responsibility in their duties; going the extra mile to prodce quality products and build relationship with consumers. Second (and third) generation of managment continued this emphasis.

    Cons

Corporate culture changing as managment has changed recently; many changes underway to grow business. The jury is still out on how this will shake out in terms of the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remeber that the employees that transitioned from New Orleans to Nashville and Cookeville are a great strength of the company as you transition to a new business model.
