I have been working at Oregon State University part-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Open doors and open minds! A lot of grate professors, good coursework, and good research. Good life is a small town of Corvallis.

Cons

Small university, limited resources! You may not get the breadth of coursework needed. You may be bore if you prefer a big city life, as there are a very few things to do.

I worked at Oregon State University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you're in the right place, you will work with some of the smartest, most highly-motivated people from all over the world that you are ever likely to meet.

If you're in the right place, you will be given the resources and the autonomy to do work the best work you can the way you want to.

    Cons

Oregon State plays the "quality of life" card hard. For some professions you will make half of what you would in industry.

The bureaucracy and politics can seem overwhelming at times.

If you're in the wrong place, none of the pros apply but all of the cons still do. But I think this is normal for all universities, not just OSU.

    Neutral Outlook
