Former Employee - Physical Therapist in Charlotte, NC
Former Employee - Physical Therapist in Charlotte, NC

I worked at OrthoCarolina full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Great co-workers, flexible with time off, good continuing education opportunities, excellent equipment and medical records. Workplace provides up to date facilities, staff and training.

Cons

Driven to be a successful business first, provide for patients second, and employees third. Leadership is somewhat handicapped by the fact that this is a physician owned and operated company; therapy is an ancillary service. While I believe it is possible to give good quality care in this environment it is not the primary focus of the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a disconnect between the physician offices and therapy offices at times....information is shared via medical records and physicians are open to communication given by therapists however ancillary staff in physician's offices including front office as well as medical assistants and nurses and relations with therapists is strained. We are all on the same team and should be treated as such.

I have been working at OrthoCarolina full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

New director has informed employees to report anything office managers do and she will make sure that they are dealt with. Prior director believed everything management told them

    Cons

Only prompted if you are friends with those already in higher management. African American has no chance for promotion. I have been employed with this company for over 10 years applied more than 8 positions and never received a call or interview for any of the positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The diversity group that was developed needs to be reorganized and be more focus on the employees rather then patients locations. Stop hiring family and Friends and hire truly qualified employees.
