I have been working at Outback Steakhouse full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Discount is ok at home store, accessibility to be able to work anywhere, flexible hours, Proprietorship is a great business building tool.

Cons

(Take into consideration, not all stores have this issue, although it is common) Communication between management staff and floor staff, kitchens are not staffed properly.

I worked at Outback Steakhouse part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The employees are ALWAYS willing to help one another out.
Teamwork is HUGE and it really helps when you are slammed with tables.
The money is great if you're willing to work for it.

    Cons

There is hardly any down time and not enough servers on certain nights.
Sometimes the bartenders take awhile on drinks because they have to make theirs as well as all of the tables.
    LONG hours
Sometimes the tips don't make up for the time you're there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it not so impossible to find you when on a wait! It's too difficult to get things done with the manager is MIA.

I worked at Outback Steakhouse part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I can't speak for every location but in my specific experience, my time at Outback in Hunt Valley was incredibly beneficial. I met some of my closest friends, had tremendous respect for my bosses and truly honed my customer relation skills (which have helped me get a career-oriented job in the wealth management field).

    Cons

The cons at Outback are the cons at any and every corporate restaurant chain - everything must be done in a very formulaic fashion. This is to be expected. You'll also get your fair share of nasty customers which is par for the course anywhere you go. If you can't deal with either of those cons, you're not going to enjoy yourself in the restaurant business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Honestly, for what the company is (being a corporate chain), I don't have much advice to give. I had an excellent experience at OBHV and, while I'm moving on to another venture, would not trade my time there for anything.
