I worked at Outback Steakhouse full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

you do at least get 50% off food for yourself

    Cons

company direction is all about competing with cheap places like applebee's typical slave labor mentality now management can sometimes be a joke

I have been working at Outback Steakhouse full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent money if you work 35-40 hours a week. You can get to know people.

    Cons

Management is terrible. You will be worked more hours than you want and will not be appreciated at all. You do not get a pay check. All of your income will come from tips, which are unreliable and vary. No matter how hard you work, you will not move up in this company, however corporate managers will make empty promises about how you will. Dealing with the rude and insulting customers is bad, but not even half as bad as dealing with the management of the restaurant. Management will never stand up for their employees and will always throw you under the bus to please a demanding customer. Cannot say enough about how disappointing and insulting this company is. I have worked in two different locations for almost 3 years, and I will never recommend this company to anyone to eat or work at.

    Advice to Management

I recommend you stop cutting back on the quality of the food and service and stick to the qualities that Outback started with. This business is suffering because of the lack of quality. Instead of being money obsessed and abusing your employees, it would be more beneficial to treat your employees better which would cause better customer service and happier customer responses.
