I have been working at Outcomes Health Information Solutions

Pros

The pay per chart is good, mileage pay is very good and higher than others. The training and training pay is good. communication between employee and employer is very good. They supply all equipment needed to do the job and also reimburse for printer ink and paper and several other things.

Cons

All work is based on the contract that is in place at that time. There may or may not be enough work. My first project started off great and my schedule was full then after about a month and a half it went to nothing. On the second project, which started in February I still have not received any work. So it's really just a job to have if you aren't dependent on having to have a job.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spread work evenly to all field reviewers in an area and not just give it all to select few.

    Pros

Easy work for someone with HIM/Coding experience
    Simple systems
    Variety in work environments
Opportunities to meet and network with a variety of people
    Simple pay structure

    Cons

Inconsistent scheduling (never scheduled more than 16 hours in a week. although I was available for 40)
Lack of communication from corporate offices and field advocate

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start allowing DARs mor control in communicating directly with scheduling and the client. This would allow better work flow and notification of scheduling problems. Many times the advocates do not return calls or emails in a timely manner.

I worked at Outcomes Health Information Solutions

    Pros

Work remotely, set your own schedule, you can make some money here but it is luck of the draw, charts can be 5 pages or 100 pages and the pay is the same.

    Cons

Pay is per chart (some exceed 100 pages) and very low. Communication is terrible, they tell you about changes in procedure, etc. AFTER it is implemented. Auditors (who are double checking your work for accuracy), tell you you did something wrong and you have to fight to prove you in fact were correct and get your QA scores changed (did this MANY times). They want you to promise at least 20 hrs a week availability, but make no promises to you to provide work. Human resources never answers calls or emails, and if you can get someone on the phone by working around the operator, they lie and give you the run around. Oh and benefits? Ha Ha! What are those?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire competent people. Better communication with employees. Re-evaluate your pay scale for contract coders. Run a legitimate business and perhaps you won't have such terrible turnover and unqualified employees!
