I worked at Ozburn-Hessey Logistics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Ive worked at several OHL locations for over 5-years and it all comes down to location. Their New Jersey locations were the most desirable. One was recognized for their talent and hard work which required no butt kissing to move up the ladder. The staffing agencies would provide us with talented individuals requiring little training. Employee turnover was minimal and management knew what they were doing. Compensations were pleasing and one would feel motivated getting up to go to work there.

    Cons

OHL Pennsylvania locations are the worst sites Ive ever worked for. Only one poor HR generalist for over 300 employees & 3-different sites doesn't solve issues or make life easy for a supervision. Favoritism seemed to be invented there, how they kept OSHA from not opening an office in their warehouses is miracle and employee turnover is extreme. Ive never seen so much workplace violence in my life like I did there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put an effort and money in your hiring process. Relying on no-name staffing agencies and mangers to hook-up their buddies to provide talent is self mortification. Walk the floors and carefully watch managers treatment of employees and staff. Eliminate favoritism and promote those that deserve it.
