I have been working at P.F. Chang's full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Everyone knows P.F. Chang's, popular restaurant with good locations. Easy to make money if you can turn tables or have personality because the steps of service require a lot of face time.

Cons

The company was bought out and our corporate office changed a lot of things such as the menu and bonus structure thus changing some dynamics of the restaurant. The uniform changes they made are awful!

Hard work and good attitudes rewarded. Complainers weed themselves out (or are weeded out)

    I have been working at P.F. Chang's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid, stable company with a huge, loyal following. Good money available if willing to work hard for it (understaffed bar at times - you can be sprinting a whole shift making cocktails, serving food to a busy rail, and juicing, juicing, juicing for the signature drinks). Managers who step in and back you up if you get slammed. The heart of the restaurant is the kitchen - and Chang's is a well-oiled machine that is designed for volume.

    Cons

Top-down corporate decision making, so not a lot of flexibility at the local store level. (But this can be a pro when new managers are promoted so they can learn the system and just stick to it). Front of house rarely get more than 6 hour shifts, so even at 6 days a week its "part-time" and therefore very limited corporate benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Discretionary marketing budget at the local level. Train managers in business development to bring in corporate and event business during slow season.
