PA Consulting Consultant in London, England (United Kingdom):   (Current Employee)

Pros

PA's people are its best asset - they're great people to work with! Its not a hierarchical organisation at all which is nice as well. There are fewer ranks to partner than you get at some other organisations, and as its a meritocracy, you can move up the ranks fairly quickly. You have the chance to take on a lot of responsibility fairly early in your career, which is great too.

Cons

PA are a conservative firm in terms of money. As a result, the basic compensation isn't as good as some of PA's competitors. The upside to this is they are much better placed than their competitors with the credit crunch on!

Advice to Senior Management

Carry on doing the great job you are!

Not only is the basic compensation lower than other consultancies, but the bonus is a real disappointment too. By the time you deduct employers' national insurance, deferred elements, and all the other taxes from the figures it really is a pitiful amount. To add insult to injury, even the holiday days are worse than everyone else.

The rationale for the low base was that we would never see any redundancies. The latest downturn has shown how untrue that was.
