PA Consulting – “PA Consulting, average consultancy”

Pros

Work life balance is good, hours are not too long. However, their core strengths are in IT integration an government work. Staff joining in other teams should be aware these are very much peripheral to PA's overall model and do not provide their core revenues. They also lack talent and focus in these other departments.

Cons

Management are not very competent, calibre of staff is worse than other consultancies. Consultancy by its very nature promotes a diverse skill-set amongst staff but at most top-tier consultancies there are senior managers who have very deep knowledge in specific industries and are able to leverage this to pass on good knowledge to staff. PA has very few such senior managers. Paticularly in financial services where they are clueless.

Advice to Senior Management

have stronger structure for new recruits, get industry specialists in as senior managers.
