Pros

Steady work/life balance. You wont bring your work home with you and required overtime only happens once every few years.

Cons

Outdated policies on just about everything. Company is straight from the 1950's.

    Pros

The company has a strong reputation for doing whatever it takes to create a profit at the end of the quarter.

    Cons

PACCAR continues to push the ethical boundaries of corporate culture.

On 02/19/2014 at 9:00am employees were sent home with strict orders that facial hair was not allowed at PACCAR. There were no written statements but individuals were contacted face to face with the request to leave the premises abruptly. Human Resources announced that employees were mandated to take leave without pay or use vacation time until they came back with facial hair removed. To this day PACCAR does not have a written policy, and is not willing to provide a dress code under any circumstances but they continue to threaten to fire employees if they do not shave facial hair.

This is an example of the unethical company culture that is handed down daily at PACCAR. Upper management is not afraid to threaten individuals by taking away their jobs unless they comply with all orders from the CEO. It is unethical to create a policy overnight and threaten to fire employees who show up to work unaware of what is not allowed.

PACCAR motivates their employees primarily on fear. The incident that occurred on 02/19/2014 is only one of many examples of fear based management. Previous posts are completely accurate with similar events.

I hope outside individuals think twice before joining PACCAR. This is not a company for individuals who cannot take condescending criticism.
