PHH Arval – “Ex Bag Carrying Salesman lacks the vision to lead”

Location. Good employee pool from northern baltimore county. Generic culture, same value systems, group think. Reasonable pay compared to other employers in the area.
Cons
Family owned business that has "grown up". Still has family owned business issues. Kilroy can't make the right/hard decision relative to people. Old boy network - unfortunately the wrong old boys - misplaced loyalty. Head of business development is a disaster. Favorite quote from competitor "any organization with Dibiagio at the helm of customer engagement is no concern of ours". Decision by concensus culture. Make decisions that maintain the status-quo. Emphasize mediocrity. Play "wack-a-mole" with innovators.
Advice to Senior Management
Take advantage of the business downturn and exit the executive team. Recover with the right people in place. Middle management needs to take a turn at business elsewhere - get fresh ideas, fresh people, fresh perspective. You can't fix the problems with the same brains that created the problems. Stop driving creative, innovative people out of the business - you won't find them again - as people like that aren't attracted to fleet management. Overall you may not be the right people to drive the company into the future. It isn't about leasing anymore, the quicker you figure that out, the more likely you will be to survive. Fleet management has a new definition that you aren't even aware of yet.
