I worked at PIMCO full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Smart people, high intensity, good compensation (for some)

Cons

YOu are only as good as your last [whatever]. Consistent stellar performance doesn't matter if at the end of the year there is a mistake or error.

Good company overall but poor treatment of admins and stuffy environment

Former Employee - Administrative in New York, NY

I worked at PIMCO as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Good reputation, good benefits. Some people were really nice. People in other positions seemed happy.

    Cons

Job itself sucked. They are disorganized, they will promise things they don't delver on, they are super judgmental, and if you don't fit the submissive stereotype of an admin they'll let you go in two days without even putting you with your group. Churn and burn environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Chill out and appreciate people's differences. Respect the people who work for you.

Poor management leads to loss of morale

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at PIMCO full-time

    Pros

PIMCO has big reputation in the Finance Industry (asset management) and the name looks good on a resume. You're mostly surrounded by very intelligent people and know what they're doing.

    Cons

Poor management often led to loss of morale on teams. Pay is also low compared with market and other asset management firms. Lot's a red tape to get things done often slowed projects down to the point of stagnation.
