I worked at PNC Financial Services Group full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Truley a service driven culture. Empowered to make decisions at the branch level. Products and services are on par with the industry. Long standing and solid reputation. Very good community involvement programs.

Cons

Extremely conservative consumer and business lender. Below average salaries. Poor incentive plans. Inadequate staffing models. Branch partners regularly disengadged. Human Resource procedures extremely lengthy and require a great deal of time consuming busy work. Very difficult to terminate troublesome employees or underperformers even with documented coaching and action planning. Zero sales accountability at all levels, actually the sales culture is completly missing which becomes very frustrating.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

More accountablility is needed with regards to sales if PNC wishes to retain top sales talent. Consumer and Business lending policies need to be revisited as branches and business bankers regularly lose loans to other financial institutions. Staffing models must be increased with less reliance on faulty forecasting systems.

    Have good accounts compared to competitors

    Management could care less about employee success but act like they do

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    CIQ cannot be fixed immediately. You need to peel back the orange and realize it's ultimately the employees attitude that most effects CIQ. Often times their attitude is a result of management.

    Higher pay outs on incentive plan or lower sales goals. Job is 60 - 80% service. If all you were accountable for was sales it would be perfect job!
