I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Compensation is competitive, benefits are pretty good. Work arrangements can be flexible. Stated commitment to community involvement and environmental concerns.

Cons

Management is ineffective, merit increases are a joke (<2% for outstanding performance?). Short-sighted focus on short-term numbers instead of long-term performance and value. Career opportunities are unfairly applied (playing favorites).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management needs to be aware of the dissonance in their communication -- raving about quarterly/annual results and profits, but giving miniscule merit increases and outsourcing entire departments.

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group full-time

    Pros

Good training and tools to do the job

    Cons

very low pay for employees, always running on thin staff, demanding customer service expectations that are not measured in a fair manner. Micromanagement, senior management talks down to employees and are not accountable for employee engagement as lower management is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start treating your employees with respect and value their talents. Listen to the needs of each branch and support them to achieve all goals. Upper management only cares about the numbers and not the people. You will continue to lose talent if you don't hire compassionate, caring leaders.

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

PNC strives on great customer service. A growing institution with small town feel. They have a lot of resources for finances, family, health/wellness, etc. Employees have always been really nice at whatever branch I walk into.

    Cons

Benefits are costly, pay & incentives are low. Even with experience, you're brought it at the minimum base level to start. Very demanding in the branches; micro-managing. Expectation to sell & cross sell are hard to be met due to the low traffic in some branches. Training is far away without option of a hotel. Some training classes were cancelled without notification. (Driving 3hrs total for nothing)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that many expectations cannot be met when there aren't many opportunities available. Productivity is always higher and easier to obtain in a call center environment, where you have thousands of people calling that department everyday.
