It was great when it was small

    Pros

Great pay-time-off for senior level employees. Allows flexible schedule and work-from-home. Since the company is still relatively small, it is possible to advance from an entry level employee to mid-management within a year or two.

    Cons

PPC was acquired by a company twice its size a while back, since then, it has lost a lot of the characters. Gone are the 100% 401K matching, generous health benefits and the performance based bonuses. It also lacks training budget and any kinds of formal career path, which can be really bad for experienced, mid-career people. The performance review process also does not make any sense at all. It is a laborious process that neither employee nor the managers can stand, on top of that, the metrics for the review measures things that make no sense at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Establish career paths that allows people at all levels a clear, defined way to advance their career. Overhaul the performance review process, the current one makes sense to perhaps the person who designed it and no one else.

Had a great promise, not so much now

    Pros

PPC is a pretty company that allows employees a lot of potential rooms to grow. It is possible to move from entry level to mid-management within a few years, because of its size.

    Cons

Since the acquisition by a company twice its size, PPC seems to have lost a lot of the personalities that made it unique. A trade off for being part of a public traded company. The lack of a defined career path and training budget could be bad for people in their mid-career, since it seems almost impossible to get training through PPC nowadays (since 2009).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Establish career paths for employees, create a fair performance review process. The current performance review system simply doesn't gauge anything sensible and is a burden to both managers and the employees.
