Good company to work for overall but can't compete with the salaries of other chem companies or oil companies.

Maintenance Engineer (Current Employee)
Lake Charles, LA

I have been working at PPG full-time for less than a year

ProsManagement seems to care about their employees for the most part.
Management keeps employees informed about decisions being made.
People are friendly and very willing to help.

ConsPrides itself on being one of the largest producers of Chlorine but at the lowest rates. This means they cannot pay their employees as much as other companies which means it is hard to retain people.
Money is taken from the chemical plants and put into the coatings plants. There is not enough money spent on upkeeping the facilities.

Store Manager (Former Employee)
Knoxville, TN

I worked at PPG full-time for more than a year

Pros: Experience and travel. Most store managers are good people, it's hard to watch them be worked so hard though. It's easy to track how well… Cons: Pay is bad, micro-management to the extreme, must travel or take jobs you don't want to stay employed, harassment in a male dominated field, absolutely… Advice to Senior Management: Spend more time in stores, have manager's give anonymous "report cards" on SGM's, QUIT RUNNING SKELETON CREWS -or- quit requiring so much out of a… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More
