I have been working at PRA Health Sciences full-time (less than a year)

Pros

Really impressive compensation package. Work/life balance is better than most other companies. Benefits and PTO are pretty standard. There's always a lot to do, but study teams and managers tend to be very understanding and helpful if you ever have questions or feel overworked. Company training is long and thorough, which is definitely is a good thing.

Cons

There seems to be a high employee turnover in Clin Ops. Not sure why as I haven't had any bad experiences thus far. If you're not good with computers, you'll probably want to look at a different company (everything is done through one application or another). Managers don't micro-manage for the most part unless you consistently show that you need it. PRA's great for people who are pretty seasoned in the CRO industry.

    I worked at PRA Health Sciences full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Talented, hard-working staff; although most are moving on in droves now to pursue better opportunities.

    Cons

    Former PRA management team has been virtually exterminated, replaced by the 'good ol boy' dictators from PPD and this has effectively destroyed the company morale.
    Mass exodus of employees is ongoing due to poor treatment and bad business decisions made by executive management, who routinely silo information and reward themselves with lofty promotions/bonuses at the expense of their employees.
    Managers are not given training or appropriate resources to retain and manage staff. Completely absurd associate-to-supervisor ratios: 30:1 in some cases!
    Managers beware: there is NO such thing as a 'manager's bonus' here despite what they promise you! Executive management loves to dangle this as an ongoing incentive and use as an excuse to NOT reward ad hoc displays of good performance of management staff because 'you're going to get a manager's bonus' instead, only to take it completely away at the final hour with little to no explanation why.
    Product Delivery in particular is a complete joke and by far the worst in the industry. Many DPDs (Directors) have little to no experience in clinical operations and as a result provide PMs with no support whatsoever. It is very sad to see this once great company sink to such a low level.
    I will absolutely not hire PRA for CRO services after what I witnessed during my tenure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fire your CEO and replace your entire executive 'management' team. Hire people to replace them who can rebuild the company with a better understanding of transparency, the value of investing in and retaining a solid functional management team, importance of providing your clients with quality services and the market value of your employees. Fully commit to the 'SERVICE and Delivery' model that originally made PRA a success and good place to work.

    Good benefits
    Good sponsors
    Planned activities for employees are good

    Cons

    Company not run well at the top
    Going public to reduce the debt of ridiculous overspending
    Need to replace the CEO
    There is no career advancement
    HR does not listen to all the employees that are quitting
    VP of IT needs to go!
