Former Employee – worked at PRA International part-time for more than 10 years
Pros – I met some really great people in PRA over the years, strangely though, most of them have left for various reasons. Flexible working was a plus, but it wasn't true flexible working.
Cons – Management have no concept of working in the real world. Favouritism is rife! It's not what you know but who you know. Management seem to prioritise team activities (social events). They want a "happy clappy" workforce. If you do not want to participate, you are ostracised, which means any hope of betterment is a no no. There is a lot of time wasted on endless, unecessary presentations, most of which can be self read. If you have any issues regarding a manager, don't expect any backing from HR, as they always support the manager.
Advice to Senior Management – Wake up and smell the coffee!!! Some senior managers clearly need to be retrained in how to manage staff and specifically how to deal with confrontational issues, instead of "sweeping problems under the carpet", hoping they will go away. In fact some senior managers should not be in managerial positions at all! They would not possibly be offered managerial positions with other companies. Again it's not what you know, but who you know! This definately needs to be addressed!!
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
