Pros

Primedia has a great product to offer consumers who are looking for an apartment home. Very detail-oriented, and their recent advancements in optimizing search engine results have been stellar. The product is strong and compared to its competitors in the multi-family industry, I'd say without a doubt that it's the best and most successful.

Cons

Since the change in CEO in 2008, the company has taken a downturn in terms of employee satisfaction. There were many layoffs and consolidations that put people out of a job who had served the company for over 10 years. There is no true concern from upper management as to how their employees feel lately. Account Executives have been given more and more work and more and more responsibilites while they are expected to still meet even higher sales goals. Administrative employees have been laid off and their duties slowly being taken away and reallocated to the sales people. Many Administrative employees fear for their jobs now, as they seemed to be slowly pushed out the door. While the products are good, the employees happiness and job satisfaction, not to mention morale, have fallen off a cliff.

Advice to Senior Management

Morale boosts! Employees need to be encouraged and voice recordings from the CEO for company-wide conference calls are definitely not a tool of motiviation, nor is sending scary e-mails about commission restructuring. Encouraging and rewarding employees for doing their job well can go a long way, and this company has not seen that since Bob Metz was CEO.
