I worked at PROS

Pros

Friendly work environment; lots of smart people around the company; flexible work hours; good internal communication; company location not bad for a family;

Cons

Compensation not comparable with similar companies; management does not care about their employees; no stock options for most employees when the company went public

Advice to ManagementAdvice

visibility is not an issue (they are always around); but the senior management does not have clear vision for the company --- as a result, you have no idea where the company is going

    I have been working at PROS

    Pros

    Huge potential market abroad. Company hardly laid off people in the current downturn, putting more money to R&D instead.

    Cons

    There is always too much work. In engineering department, too many people get no technical training. You can be there 5 years just working, working, working without opportunity for professional growth. The training budget goes to sales, marketing, and scientists.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Spend money on training engineering management. People there have been promoted based on technical competence. That should be balanced with leadership and project management skills.
