I have been working at PSAV

Pros

You get what you give..play nice and you can learn a lot from people who have been around.
In hotels you get 3 squares a day at no charge which saves you a bundle.
they give you a uniform allowance which is pretty fair
the health benefits are pretty decent considering some I have seen. dental is weak.
most of the mid level guys and girls are OK to work with..you definitely have a few over zealous goobers but that can happen anywhere.

Cons

Long hours ..but thats the nature of the beast.
transitioning to management hurts you in the pocket if you are not careful..same hours 60-70 p/week but you are now salary and that can hurt without OT
the hotels generally treat you like a doormat unless you get lucky and work with a cool hotel staff thats fair and nice and treats you like part of the team..but a lot of that comes from your director..if he is a tool then the hotels feelings trickle down.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop spending so much time hiring managers and get your techs to a happier place and the clients will see better service all around which means repeat business. Some hotels have 4 managers to every 1 tech???? kind of crazy.

    Pros

Working on major shows with Disney on some really cool shows. There are not any other good reasons to work for PSAV.

    Cons

The manegment will not make decisions to help the company move forward in a good direction. There are no consequences for sales people or project managers who don't do their job properly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mike McIlwain needs to fire people in middle management (i.e. RVP,AD) who are not performing to any standard.

I have been working at PSAV

    Pros

My director is actually pretty good to work with... His only flaw is that he knows enough about AV to waste my time on set days... I get a list of equipment to set in a room that may or may not be the actual equipment that will be used...

I enjoy working here because of the people I work with... It is mostly entertaining, when you're not sweating in a suit... because you can't wear regular clothes while at work... in a ballroom... on a lift...

    Cons

    My god, the hours...

    The pay scale...

Working with hotel sales people... who are numb skulls...

Being in a place that you have to keep the clientele, the hotel management, hotel setups, & your staff and management happy all at the same time... you have no power whatsoever...

The team leader position... It's a joke...
