I worked at Pacific Bearing

Pros

Good innovative products to compete in very competitive global marketplace. Company has great reputation for delivering unique product that work as advertised.

Cons

New product launches full of missteps and create issues for all divisions within company. End users seem to be testing grounds instead of internal test environment.

Advice to Management

Too many people "passing the buck" and not taking responsibility for their mistakes. If Product X is promised by X date and X condition, people should be able to rely on management's committment.

Don't get paid enough for everything you have to do for this company.

    Pros

Great medical and dental benefits, especially for the family.
    Always get over-time.

    Cons

Must stand all day. You only get one break. Back breaking work not worth making next to minimum wage. Don't get credited for the work you do. You don't get inspection materials, so most of the work you do is almost guessing sizes.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees what they deserve instead of insulting them with a $0.30 raise once every 1-2 years.

    Pros

The company has good standard products and can be innovative. There is opportunity to perform a variety of tasks that may be outside your normal job function.

    Cons

The owner is his own worst enemy. I personally witnessed this guy publicly scream at employees for doing exactly what he directed them to do. The employees are constantly looking over their shoulders wondering if it is their day to be either screamed at or walked out. This company has the highest turnover rate I had ever heard of! Many people do not even last a week there. After being hired, many have just disappeared and never returned after witnessing how this company is run. The owner's favorite saying is that this company is his "sandbox" and he can do what he pleases within it. He does not take responsibility for his actions and does not understand how a business should be run. He makes questionable decisions that hamstring the company and then behaves unprofessionally to his employees in the fall out. There is little to no training for employee,s so creating opportunities for an employee to have a chance to succeed is nil. I was at the company about 5 years and in that time production management completely changed over 4 times, operations management turned over 3 times, engineering management turned over 6 times, and quality management turned over 8 times. I would discourage anyone from taking employment at this company and I would also discourage purchasing products from this company because the company is severely out of control in all aspects and delivery as well as quality is suspect. Quality issues run rampant through the company and there is no corrective action system. Even though their on time delivery is less than 50%, they still can't get the products right and will take ill advised shortcuts just to get product out the door, whether it is good or not. One last thought, during my time there only one person was promoted in the company to a higher position so opportunities for advancement are near zero. Additionally, there was only one merit increase in that time.

    Advice to Management

Get control of your standard products and processes.
Trust your employees to do their jobs.
    Don't micromanage every aspect.
Be professional in communicating with employees.
The owner needs to step down and stay away from the business as he is mentally and emotionally unable to perform in a professional manner.
Management does not take responsibilities for all the problems in the company.
    Treat people with respect
