Pros

-ability to learn transferrable skills -learn how to work within matrix organization -great benefits and reimbursement program -product is relatable

Cons

-convoluted leadership structure with capped ceilings for growth -doesn't foster open and honest communications within organization -continual spin in terms of goals and priorities -antiquated ways of thinking due to fear of public scrutiny and relationship with Commission

Advice to Management

In order to grow and develop as a company, you need to be willing to risk the backlash from the public and strive to do what is best for the customers regardless of the judgments along the way. Be willing and open to talk to the Commission. Push back when things don't make sense and stop forcing your employees to work on a project that is set up to fail from the get go.

    Pros

Benefits, work/life balance, and reasonable salary.

    Cons

Employee retention is almost too high and limits room for growth. Conservative company. Ship can be too big to turn if needed.

    Advice to Management

Too much focus on employee retention, rather than internal competition in order to hire and retain the best/most effective employees.

  2. Working for a large utility comes with ups and downs

    Pros

Security, local, many types of jobs, career path

    Cons

Slow moving, corporate, not a lot of room for innovation. complacency

    Advice to Management

I am new and management is often changing, it is hard to say . It would be nice if they would try to tell as few lies as possible.
