I worked at Pacific Gas and Electric as a contractor (more than a year)

Pros

Great work culture. Good exposure to new technologies. Good pay.

Cons

It take long to move any thing because of the hierarchical setup.

started out as a great experiencing but slowly decaying

I have been working at Pacific Gas and Electric

    Pros

Benefits include pension plan, but you must work here for 5 years first to be eligible. Salary seems decent.

    Cons

Very old style thinking and slow to adapt and implement new processes and technologies; nepotism still exists here

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Way too many layers to get decision making done and unfortunately, big decisions aren't shared with everyone to contribute which leads to poor decision making; senior management should be more in tune with the day to day operations and tasks of their employees

PG&E is similar to Congress, everyone likes their representative, but dislikes it as a whole

I have been working at Pacific Gas and Electric full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of great people who work at PG&E. Some of the most loyal, hard-working, and caring I've been around.

    Cons

As with any company or organization with 20k+ employees, you're bound to find a handful of terrible people/workers. Unfortunately these people find their way into a union represented position and they are difficult to get rid of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a difficult road ahead, but stay the course. The upper management here does a fine job, it's the middle management who need to stay grounded.
