    Pros

I enjoyed Pac Sun's "California State of Mind," which largely entailed providing customer service in a very friendly and casual manner. My co-workers throughout my entire three years working at this store were reason enough to look forward to working. The hours are also very flexible, and management is very considerate of other obligations, such as school (since many of the staff consist of college students).

*Note* - While the rest of my review will be mostly negative, I would like to add that for a part time student who may not have too many financial responsibilities, it's a fun, simple job, hence the recommendation. However, if you're in it for the long haul, then keep the following details in mind.

    Cons

The pay is not competitive enough, and what's worse is that opportunities for advancement are slim to none. Corporate has little understanding of the inner workings of each store and are constantly undermining the management and sales staff at stores. That being said, most of the members from corporate are hired through recruiting from other companies, and carry over their policies from previous companies, completely ignoring Pac Sun policies; not only do they do this, but they also bring their friends from their previous employers and put them in management positions in stores, even if they are completely not qualified. Corporate is rife with issues like this and turns a blind eye to it's own misdoings.

    Advice to Management

The company should sincerely consider promoting internal growth; if employees see that upward mobility is possible, then the incentive to work harder increases. With that said, stores can be managed by employees who not only know how the company functions but who have been endowed with reason to continue working harder. Offering silly little prizes and telling your employees to work twice as hard for the same pay rate with no opportunities for advancement is not conducive to helping a company grow.
