Pros

To meet new people from all around the world. Friendly front desk staff and lovely housekeeping staff.

Cons

The downsides include poor management, a lousy restaurant, and mediocre maintenance.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management should pay attention to the needs of their employees. They should take the steps necessary to making the hotel a viable location for everyone.

    Pros

    Good work/life balance. Flexible scheduling allowed me to work and attend school full time. Great people to work with and grow professionally. Great opportunities for advancement if you are willing to relocate.

    Cons

    Benefits are less than adequate for non management employees. There is a disconnect between corporate and hotel property management which is felt in the daily operations of the hotel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Bring back quality benefits for all employees. These people are loyal and willing to go the extra mile as hospitality team members.
    Make a change in company culture to decrease the tensions between property management teams and corporate.

    I worked at Pacifica Hotel Company part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent caring management team in my area. They are fighting a corporate penny-pincher (Pacifica) to do the right thing by residents who are essentially helpless (they have Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia).

    Cons

    Horrific pay for caregivers, raises are 2% for all, regardless of performance, they eliminated shift differential, they found a way to cut back on earned vacation and sick leave hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Caregivers matter. Quit treating them like disposable wipes. For the record, I was office staff, not a caregiver. How they are treated is heartbreaking, considering how much money people pay to house their loved ones. The place is a revolving door because of poor pay and benefits and overall treatment.
