    Pros

Good benefits and paycheck generally. The rank and file employees are nice to work with.

    Cons

Very political environment, the worst I ever saw. Since there are no clear processes, everything turns on how you are appreciated by your management in case of failures. The company promotes normally people who stick around longtime (5-6 years), and not necessarily on the merit of the person. This is why there are a lot of mid-level managers and even directors incompetent. If you do not mind waiting, it might be a good workplace for you. However, if you see that your management is or becomes aloof to you, you have no future there and you are better off somewhere else. Since this is a Japanese company, based on corporate culture you are either in the grace of your manager, or not. The Asian managers tend to treat their team like a family and may take it personally if they find out you want to move somewhere else, even for a better job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to clean the management ranks and give better promotions opportunity. 5-6 years is an awful long time to get a promotion there.

I have been working at Panasonic Avionics Corporation full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Very stable. No layoffs even through the worst parts of the economic troubles.
Generally laid back, "get it done" culture in most groups/departments. Technical focus.

    Cons

Very limited upward mobility. Salaries on the low end for knowledge levels (fairly typical for engineering focused companies). Little respect for I.T. bodies of knowledge. Engineers from many disciplines are frequently placed in charged of departments, groups, & initiatives that they have little to no knowledge, background, or understanding of. "Build vs. Buy" mentality for most everything with some very antiquated systems & processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Objectively consider areas of knowledge outside engineering and experience of employees from other fields transferring into the company.
