I have been working at Panda Express full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Pay Is Better Than Average- A normal associate starts at $8.50 minimum. A.M. is hourly and start at $12.00. Performance reviews are giving every 6 months. You do good, you can expect to get a 20 to 50 cent raise.

Great People Development - They really are good at developing you mentally. They say if you can make it at Panda, your gold every where else. And even if you can't handle it, you can go somewhere else and still be looked at as a worthy candidate. That's how well they train you.

Good Benefits- They offer a 401k plan, Health Insurance, to Direct Deposit to Everything else.

Cons

Not A Performance Based Company- Its not what you know, its who you know and who can kiss a** the best. Thats just about the only way to move up here.

Extremely Strict Rules- Come in with any color socks other than black, expect to get sent home. No facial hair other than a moustache. Hair has to tuck under hat.

Zero Overtime- Very rarely will you get 40 hours. Full-time here is over 30 hours so expect around 35- 37 at max.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to the employees instead of basing a GM's performance strictly on numbers.

    Pros

Hourly rate wasn't too bad compared to other fast food companies.

    Cons

    Under staffed.
    Worked you to the bone.
    Lots of regulations broken.
    Management was terrible at scheduling.
No funding for required uniform other than the hat, shirt, and apron.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be wary of your employees and their whereabouts. Check on management to see that the schedule is fair and rotating. Let employees take there breaks and lunches on time and never let an employee work off the clock.

    Pros

Free meals, a great place to make new friends. Its a fast food job, so it is what it is.

    Cons

Very long hours and demanding job. For the amount of money employees make, they expect a lot and want you to care about the company. Working multiple 12 hour days in a row is rough. Not a bad temporary job, but a career here is too demanding, and scheduling is all over the place, so work life balance is bad. GM's are afraid of upper management and detail clean worthless things (like the calculator) because they are trying to brownnose. Worthless, fake, cheesy corporate values. Also their new slogan of cooking "food with passion" and "service with heart" is extremely fake amd cheesy. Someone ay corporate came up with it and thoughy highly of themselves, even though it is a fake worthless slogan that employees wont (and shouldnt) take seriously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Panda is a FAST-FOOD restaurant. You will never be "recognized as a leader in people development." Also enough with the corporate culture. And the new way of beings. They are fake and stupid and do nothing for the employees. And landmark classes are cult-like. Dont expect ao much from low-paid employees.
