    I worked at Panduit

    Pros

It was a good place to work for the kind of work we did. There were few people in the shop who left voluntarily. But, if anyone thinks any company looks upon you as anything other than a tool to perform a job you need to wake up. Certainly you could not believe the propaganda even if you have to pretend? The fact that any company purports to extend the idea of "family" to an ordinary employee exposes their low opinion of your intelligence. You are simply, as a subordinate, expected to be polite enough not to acknowledge the lie. Part of the 'Panduit" family? Laughable. The Cavney's are the Panduit family. Everyone else is expendable. Just as in every other business if you are not the owner you are overhead, and in a company the size of Panduit you stay or go--for the good or ill of the company-- at the whim of a faceless bureaucracy. Sad but true.

    Cons

The company finally reached a size to enable management to become the primary product and focus instead of engineering and manufacturing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do what you are told to do. After all, you are merely an employee, and no different than a mold tech or an extrusion operator, except perhaps less productive.

I have been working at Panduit

    Pros

Was a great, really great place to work when we were a bit smaller. Lots of camaraderie, trust, integrity, and the products and service were of top quality. i was proud to work there and proud to tell others that I worked there. Good location if you live south of city, flex time, and many, many nice AND hard-working people.

    Cons

However, those days ended sadly. The review process just completed and no matter how hard you worked, how often you exceed your goals and how many extra hours you put in, you simply cannot get a better than average performance rating. This is patently unfair and will demotivate people even more. And sad but true, this is what is mandated from management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please realize that you can do many great things and that you have many great people who are willing and able to do great things... but please also realize that you cannot do everything. Take your list of top 15 or 20 goals and using good leadership, pare that down by a couple. After all the lay offs, you have only the cream left and I wish you would realize that. Stretching and being challenged is a good thing but continual overwork is having a bad effect on morale. Please also open your eyes and see that there is a level of chaos being perpetuated by some managers. Once the economy picks up, you will want to keep your best talent but my guess is that many will leave faster than you imagine. There is still a strong culture of pride and achievement at Panduit; please do your best to cultivate this and let it blossom before it erodes any further.
