I have been working at Panera Bread full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Works with schedule and vacation time is nice. Good for students.

Cons

High stress and poor pay for what you have to put up with. The male shift supervisors were getting paid more than me.

I worked at Panera Bread part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The food is great. My Co-workers were a lot of fun to work with. The customers tend to be more upscale and they seem to enjoy themselves and our product. The consistency in the hours were very good, which is rare in retail. I had a set schedule for most of my time there.

    Cons

It's food service, so you're always dealing with crap from customers. If you have a lousy work ethic, you won't last long. It's constant work for little pay. Most stores are understaffed which makes the workload that much more unbearable. Closing the store takes forever. Even if you prep right, it can still take 1-2 hours to close. Each location is different( malls or stand alone stores), so your responsibilities can always change based on location. Our store got robbed a couple of times which was scary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You store managers absolutely make or break you. My first 6 month's on the job, the management was horrible. But then we got a new GM who cleaned house and hired new managers, and we won store of the year. So to be apart of that turnaround was very exciting and there was a real sense of pride in what we did. So be more selective in who you hire for those positions.
