Great job until you hit the glass ceiling

Assistant Manager Panera Bread (Current Employee)

I have been working at Panera Bread full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGrowing company.
Has strong values.
Gives back to the community by donating leftover product.
Relaxing atmosphere for customers.
Friendly regulars.

ConsLong work weeks. Hard to make a balance of personal/professional life.
Poor compensation for 60+ hr work weeks.
Poor communication.
Lack of consistency.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't make false promises to the staff that bleeds for your stores if you have no intention of promoting them.
Create realistic goals for ticket times and allow adequate hour/week compensation for training new staff.
Rethink the flow in some of the locations. There are a lot of bottle necks in several locations' floor plans.
Put less stress on Promoter Score. Allow it to be a true interpretation of customer's feelings rather than a rant session for a slight hiccup in customer service. This only leads to cheating in a flawed system.
Also, security cameras in the walk ins and freezers would help account for food loss...holds people accountable for the "honesty and integrity" piece.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Ohio, sucks the life out of you

General Manager (Current Employee)
Columbus, OH

I have been working at Panera Bread full-time

Pros: It's a great job for those who want a first job, part time… Cons: Managers work like dogs, while associates work at minimum wage pace. Salary under industry average, therefore, talent pool is usually from within in which leave… Advice to Senior Management: If you love Panera, don't work here you'll end up hating it. Corporate changes things so often, and adds things which make you wonder… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More
