Very poorly run resort, overly focused on profit instead of quality.

Negative Outlook

I worked at Paradise Point Resort & Spa full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The resort is situated on a man made island which is very beautiful. Great idea of core values. Easy to get hired!

Cons

The rooms are habitually dirty and not up to the standard advertised creating constant complaints to the staff. Housekeeping has to clean their quota of rooms as fast as possible and they are not permitted overtime. The rooms also have a lot of mold from the environment and no proper ventilation. Positions are cut when someone leaves or gets fired instead of moving a suitable candidate into the vacant position. Wages are the lowest in the hospitality field in the area across the board. Trip Adviser score is constantly going down.

I worked at Paradise Point Resort & Spa part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Out on the water a lot, outside in the sun. Discounts on all the toys.

    Cons

Long days, often expect people to work 10 hour days and they don't give you overtime for it.

    Advice to Management

Try to get some of the logistics together.

I have been working at Paradise Point Resort & Spa part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers for the most part are great! Discount on items in retail store, spa, coffee bar and other hotels in the DHR chain. Beautiful environment with great views of the bay. Great team environment in some departments while others have zero team environment (so this falls in the middle).

    Cons

No room for growth. Constant changes in departments that only cause employees to quit. Lower end of the pay scale and ridiculous raises once a year (it has taken an employee 10 years to get $1 raise from time they began working for the company). Food in employee cafeteria is pretty bad most days (not sure if it's chicken, fish or meat) and constantly serving food that's expired (yogurts). Some co-workers are very unprofessional (making long personal calls while on the clock and not being reprimanded in any way).

    Advice to Management

Renovate employee offices as in more than adding paint or partitions. Serve edible food in the EDR. Hire more individuals and raise pay rates. Change yearly review raises (they are ridiculous). Promote from within. Stop making changes as in combining departments.
