Pros

Parker is a very conservative, but very stable, reliable place to work at. You're not going to get rich, but you know you will always have a good paying job, good benefits, and management that while slow to react to change, charts a smooth steady course. For good, steady "peace of mind" work, Parker is an outstanding employer.

Cons

The pay is good, not great. Not a lot of opportunity for advancement. Not terribly challenging work. A little slow to react to changes in the market.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give employees more financial incentive to want to work harder. People want to be more involved and know that hard work will be rewarded. Challenge them. They want the company to be a success just as much as senior management.

    Pros

Benefits package in line with Fortune 500 companies.

    Cons

Business and work processes are comparatively immature as a result the business sufffers from poor quality, customer dissatisfaction, and morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Generally HR and mid to senior level managers are out of touch with employees, talent is lost due to broken talent management processes.

Many supervisors/managers are overwhelmed in their positions. The division management fundamentally lacks an understanding of employee development and how such an understanding contributes to the bottom line.

A good place to work, but slow to change and adapt.

Current Employee - Product Manager in Pine Brook, NJ

    Pros

Lots of different divisions offer room to grow and move around the world and country, if you want. The corporate direction is steady, and the company is very conservative. Consistent revenue increases from organic growth and acquisitions lead to feeling of job security.

    Cons

Large company has a lot of metrics and goals that are pushed down from Corporate. This causes slow, beaurocratic processes and lack of a sense of urgency. There is not enough money invested in new products and innovation. Also, there is not a lot of communication between different divisions (there are over 200 within Parker), so different divisions are not able to draw on the accomplishments of other divisions. No incentives to work together, either.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more actively engaged in the details of the day to day operations. Push decision making down the chain.
