Parker Hannifin – “Great place to work - sorry division was closed”

Pros

When I first started working at PH, I enjoyed working for a small division within a large corporation. We were very innovative, entrepreneurial, and fast for change even though associated with a huge company. Division management treated employees fairly, raises were average, and profit sharing very good.

Eventually, the division was closed due to downturn in automotive business, aquisitions, and global competition.

Cons

Management in Cleveland needs to pay attention to the talent in the divisions. Cleveland HQ would spend money and allocate to the divisions to pay for computer systems, HQ, planes and travel without consulting the divisions. They forgot that all divisions are not created equal. Many would be still around or more profitable had Cleveland management paid more attention to the needs and affordability of the division.

Advice to Senior Management

Excellent senior management. Extremely well run company. I would work for PH again. It was the best five years of my working career. I still have all my PH shares of stock.
