Pros

A very diverse company with many good people and opportunities, everyone there is very respectful of each other and I would recommend working there

Working for such a large company means some processes take longer than they should which can be frustrating at times

    - great benefits (retirement, stock options, education compensation)
    - good positioning (although not always taken advantage of)
    - good people

    - community initiatives
    - knowledgeable leadership

    Cons

    - poor communication throughout company
    - slow to adapt to change as a company
    - not enough focus on young talent
    - will be hit hard when baby-boomers retire and won't have enough internal resources to fulfill gap
    - not enough employee recognition

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reinstate corporate training program for college grads and be mindful of the 'big picture' when trying to get company through these tough economic times.

Former Employee - Engineer in Rohnert Park, CA

    Pros

Nice location; north of San Francisco.
Non-management personnel are generally very competent; they have to be to compensate for management shortcomings.
    Fair compensation.

    Cons

Management is fixated on the monthly bottom line at the expense of real growth and developement. This leads to management by crisis instead of planning.
You may be considered expendable if a manager sees you as a threat to his/her "kingdom".
Senior management has no problems "raiding" sucessful product lines from a sister mfg. facility in order to make themselves look better.
Parker is "self insured" in terms of health benefits, and it can be very frustrating, because they seem to contract a different "administrator" every other year; with the usual headaches.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Forget about the very short term bottom line, and focus on a more realistic business plan.
Corporate management should hold divisional management more accountable for the chaos that they have created within the division.
