I have been working at Parkland College

    Pros

Good leaning experience, lots of upward mobilIty. President and the board of trustees are caring and loyal. Great people to work with and students come to learn.

    Cons

Some offices can be cliquey or standoffish. Inneffeciencies can make it hard to get the job done. Not a lot of independent working skills as each end of the college uses each other to make things happen.

I have been working at Parkland College part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Parkland College is expanding their programs to better serve their students by tailoring the courses with career placement in mind. The adjunct faculty are mostly graduate students working on their Masters or PhDs which guarantees a high-level of commitment, knowledge, and enthusiasm for the subjects they teach. The campus is beautiful, well-planned, and has numerous new buildings such as a state of the art Theatre/Art complex and Student Center. They have comprehensive financial aid programs and helpful staff.

    Cons

Part-time faculty are not given the option anymore of keeping a class that has not made enrollment. This makes being an adjunct very sketchy in terms of income each semester. Also, there are no health insurance buy-in options.
